Dominican Republic Business Visa

The Dominican Republic business visa is for individuals traveling to the country for work-related purposes, such as attending meetings, conferences, negotiations, or other business activities. This can either be long-term (called NM1) or short term (NM). Below we will explore the details for each which includes required documents and other important information

Long Term Business/Working Visa (NM1)

Long term business visa (NM1) is eligible for 1 year and is granted to people with fixed contracts under either public or private companies within the Dominican Republic. Anyone can apply for the working visa at the consular offices of the Dominican Republic, providing they have all the required documentation.

To apply for the NM1 visa, each person must provide:

  • Original passport with a minimum validity of 6 months
  • Completed visa application form, available from the Dominican Republic embassy or consulate in your home country.
  • Contract or an invitation letter from  a company or organization in the Dominican Republic.
  • 1 recent front-facing photograph on a white background of a size 4 x 5 centimeters.
  • Certificate of no criminal record (not required for minors).
  • Medical certification that the person does not have any infectious or contagious disease.
  • Certificate of Labour from the Ministry of Labour of the Dominican Republic, containing the Resolution No. 135 (this document must be supplied by the Dominican company)
  • Letter of guarantee from a Dominican citizen or company, legalized by the Attorney General 
  • Birth certificate.
  • Proof of financial means and recent bank statements.

Short Term Business/Working Visa (NM)

Short term business vis (NM) has multiple entries in which each entry allows you to be able to stay up to 2 months. It is suitable for those visiting the Dominican Republic for short term business meetings, volunteer or religious work. Exceeding the stay limit will result in an extra fee that you need to pay upon departure.

To apply for the NM visa, each person must provide:

  • Original passport with a minimum validity of 6 months

How To Enter The Country

After obtaining the visa, you need an e-ticket if you want to enter the Dominican Republic through air transport as indicated by the new government law on 1st of April, 2021. This measure was put to streamline the immigration and customs process, reduces the risk of errors compared to handwritten paper forms, and to better keep track of the travelers for security purposes.
